NSF Conference On Video Games and Learning At GSE

This August, Dr. Fran Blumberg of the Educational Psychology program in Division of Psychological & Educational Services at GSE, was awarded National Science Foundation (NSF) funding to support an invitational conference. The conference, to be held in summer 2010, is designed to bring together leading national and international experts in developmental psychology, cognitive science, media research, and video game design to critically examine the extent to which children and adolescents’ learning in the context of leisure video games transfers to learning in the academic classroom. Blumberg’s own research concerns the study of children’s learning in the context of video game play. This work and that of Blumberg’s colleagues was the focus of news articles and press releases from the American Psychological Association last August.

Further inquiries about the conference should be directed to Fran Blumberg at blumberg@fordham.edu.
