Maria Lauriello-Klein (MSE, ’01), is the Managing Director of the recently opened JGK Gallery located within the East Avenue Historic District of Rochester.
The gallery rotates shows of exceptional original Modern and Contemporary art with a particular focus on work from West Coast artists. Lauriello-Klein is encouraged by the emerging prominence and depth of the Rochester-region art market. As she states:
“I always knew that Rochester deserved a gallery displaying great art from both coasts. I am happy that we could fill that need. We try very hard to show art that is both conceptually interesting and technically difficult while being very ‘livable’.”
In the past, Ms. Lauriello-Klein has served on the Board of the Memorial Art Gallery Council, as well as on the Organizing Committees for the Flaum Eye Institute’s “Crystal Ball,” and the Committee for the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Rochester’s “Main Event.” She presently serves on the Board of the Eastman House Council and is on the Organizing Committee for the Rochester Area Community Foundation’s “Evening Out At Home.” She has provided sponsorship for the 2008 and 2009 MAG spring exhibitions and continues to support the George Eastman House, the Flaum Eye Institute, the RPO, Allendale Columbia, and other Rochester and national charitable organizations.
