GSE faculty and administration have worked together to develop a conceptual framework for our students, faculty, and staff. The following standards articulate the foundational values for our school.
We value a community committed to communication. Our community knows and understands the role and function of home-school-community connections for youth support and student development.
We respect cultural diversity and consider differences to be strengths. We believe that that all individuals can learn, regardless of background, or circumstance. We are committed educating individuals in complex urban and richly diverse communities.
We recognize unique qualities in the youth we work with and we treat students with respect, fairness and equity.
We value reflection in scholarly learning and professional practice, and are committed to improving through personal and collaborative reflection.
We are committed to integrating theory, research and evidence. We believe in lifelong learning and professional education as integral to development of expertise.
We believe in providing evidence in light of available data and to applying best practices to positively impact students’ lives.
We are committed to dismantling all forms of inequity/injustice, including discriminatory practices and everyday microaggressions, which violate the dignity and oppress the freedoms of people locally, nationally and globally.
We believe in the Ignatian mission of “cura personalis” – deep respect for the individual and his/her potential.

We value the variety of technological resources for enhancing an individual’s learning. We view growth in technological expertise as integral to professional practice.
